Queen Anne - Seattle, WA - Neighborhood Spotlight

Queen Anne was my home for 10 years, and is still one of my favorite Seattle neighborhoods. It has changed a lot over the years, but my love for it has not changed.

Queen Anne is a centrally located Seattle neighborhood that borders downtown (Belltown) to the south, Lake Union to the east, Fremont to the north and Magnolia (Interbay) to the west. Queen Anne is sectioned off: top of the hill, north slope, east slope, west slope, south slope and lower Queen Anne. The top of the hill, close to shops and eateries, and the south slope, offering some of Seattle's best views of downtown, Elliott Bay and Mt. Rainier, are the most desirable locales. When searching for homes in Queen Anne, you will be able to tell where they are located by their prices. The most costly homes will be on the top of the hill and south slope. However, there are always exceptions.

When I lived on Queen Anne, I lived on lower Queen Anne, the north slope, the top of the hill and on the east slope.

I lived here in 1995 (top of hill, on Queen Anne Ave)

I lived here in 1997 (North slope)

I lived here in 2003 (east slope, off Taylor Ave N)

I lived here in 2005 (lower Queen Anne, off Taylor Ave N)

I lived all over Queen Anne, and I loved so much about the neighborhood, but a relationship moved me to West Seattle in 2008. That relationship ended, so I maybe shouldn't have moved? (Nah, I ended up falling in love with West Seattle - stay tuned for a post on this character-filled neighborhood). I miss a lot about Queen Anne, but I can't live forever in every neighborhood I love (there are a LOT of special neighborhoods in Seattle, and I can't wait to write about them all!! Keep checking back! And if you want me to write about any particular neighborhood, drop me a line and let me know which one! julie.granahan@compass.com).

I visit Queen Anne often as my therapist's office is there, so yes, I am there a lot. :) I have sold some homes on Queen Anne as well, and every opportunity I get to look at real estate there, I will. Queen Anne holds a lot, A LOT of memories. Some I can remember. Many I cannot.

Recently I spent some extended time on Queen Anne, visiting the homes I used to live in, the gym, which was my second home, new restaurants, and some old ones, and some shops. I also walked around the Farmer's Market.

Some of the best views of Seattle, Mt. Rainier and Elliott Bay are seen from the south slope of Queen Anne, specifically from Kerry Park on W. Highland Dr. Be prepared for lots and lots of tourists, especially on a nice day.

The beautiful Victoria Condominiums, 100 W. Highland Dr. I sold a condo in here many years ago. It was stunning. Rarely do units come up in here.

This was the last unit to sell in the building.

There are some fabulous homes on the market currently on Queen Anne. If you are considering a move to this incredible neighborhood, please don't hesitate to reach out. And, please remember, if you want to see the inside of these, or any homes you see online, and you don't currently have an agreement with an agent, I am here to help.

Have a smashing day!
