This is a short post/review that will most likely be added to later because I just can't get enough of vegan dining, and I know I will be back to review more of these incredible menu items! See more about my love of plant-based food here.
I have been to Luna Park Café in West Seattle many, many times for brunch, and I always got the same thing: veggie omelet. I loved that their veggie omelet had real veggies in it, like broccoli and zucchini, but I didn't love that it also had mushrooms (blech)! No one (at the time) put broccoli and zucchini in their omelets! The options are usually: mushrooms, tomato and spinach, which are fine (except for the mushrooms), but tomatoes are fruits!! I don't want fruit in my omelet. Luna Park temporarily closed in September 2022 for a reset and to do some "system updates', and reopened in March 2023 with a new menu and on that new menu is....
A VEGAN MENU!!

This vegan-wannabe is over the moon! The only problem with this new menu is I want to eat everything on it! So, that is why I started this post off with, "I know I will be back to review more of these incredible menu items." I did a quick peruse of the menu and opted to go with the first thing that jumped out at me, which was "Vegan Chicken Fried Steak: A breaded and fried vegan cutlet smothered in vegan gravy, served with tofu scramble, homefries and your choice of toast - wheat, sourdough, rye or english muffin." I stopped looking at the menu when I made my decision. I knew there were other things that I wanted and I didn't wan to make my decision difficult, so I ordered vegan chicken fried steak with an englsih muffin, and I was happy and excited with my deciion.
I have never had chicken fried steak. I have been a vegetarian more than half of my life and when I was a meat eater, chicken fried steak never sounded good to me. But, for some reason, make it vegan and I want it. I want it BAD. And, guess what? It was outstanding!

The "chicken" was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The gravy was creamy and full of flavor and had no visible bits of mushroom (I do not like to know that I am eating mushrooms). The potatoes were crispy and well-seasoned. The english muffin looked and tasted like an engligh muffin. The tofu scramble was the only thing that I wasn't crazy about. It was fine, and I enjoyed it if I put it in with a bite of chicken and gravy, but I could have done without the scramble, if I am being honest.
I enjoyed every single bite of the vegan chicken fried steak. I loved it. So much so that I am trying to figure out when I can go next, which is problematic. You see, I want to try other vegan options, but now I have fallen in love with the chicken fried steak. It looks like I am going to be overordering when I visit next. I can always bring home leftovers...
What am I eyeing to try next time? The breakfast burrito, the breakfast sandwich, and the crispy chik'n burger. It appears I might have to go back a few more times! Which I will gladly do. The service I received while I was there was outstanding, and I loved the eclectic vibe inside.
