Ever since my sister was born 40 years ago (I was 6), I have wanted to be a mom. I was a second mom to her, I babysit kids in the neighborhood, my first job was a nanny, I worked in a daycare, I had many more nanny jobs. I wanted to be around kids ALL OF THE TIME! Always nurturing and maternal, I knew I would be a good mom.
Motherhood came a lot later in life than I had expected. I found out I was pregnant with my daughter on my 40th birthday! Not a bad way to celebrate a milestone birthday. She was born in May 2015, and my son was born in January 2017. I was 42. Yep, I am an old mom. But, I know it happened at the best time. I was not ready when I was younger.
Momming is hard. It is harder than I ever imagined. Especially since I didn't think I would be doing it alone, but it is also more rewarding than I could have ever have dreamed. These two tiny humans are alive because of ME! I carried them in my belly and fed them from my body until they were each 3. Just like real estate, every day is unique with them. They are constantly helping me grow as a person and as a mother, and I am 100% a better person because of them. Every choice I make is for them and because of them. They are my everything, and I make sure I let them know that every single day.
